Welcome to Selah Youth!

Psalms 1:1-3 reads, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.  He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. “   

That is the verse where we get our name for your 9th-12th grade High School youth group, “SELAH YOUTH”. SELAH is a Hebrew word and can be translated “To pause and meditate,” usually found in poetry and song.  It is our desire to encourage this type of study and love for the Holy Bible.  We pray that you would make this your life song!  You are bombarded with all the sinful pleasures of the world with alarming ease and tremendous pressures!  We also understand that this is a crucial time in your life. You are at an age where you are forced by society to develop what you believe in and those choices will have everlasting effects. We hope that the roots of your faith would draw deeper and deeper with the LORD and His truth. You are precious in His eyes and there is NOTHING that you could ever do that would stop that love! 

At Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel we believe strongly in the command from the Lord to raise up the next generation.  We vow to do this by teaching the Word of God in its entirety and challenging today’s youth to come into a real relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior.  We rely on the Grace of God to be able to model to today’s youth the example of what the Scriptures teach.  We rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to entertain the teens.  We want to bring the local youth together and experience that true sense of fellowship as best defined in the Greek word “Koinonia” which is loosely translated “Community,” but it means so much more.  It shows us to come together and worship God by hanging out, eating, talking, singing, studying and challenging us each to be a “Doer of the Word, not just a hearer only!” (James 1). Choosing to live a non-compromising, pure Christian life!
